Can a commercial pot sink lever waste be adjusted as to how far it opens?

Hello.....I am doing some work in a new commercial kitchen. The three bay pot sink lever waste only open a 1/4" (or less) and keeps getting blocked in the 1/4" crack. Is there any way to adjust how high the plunger opens? It seems it should open a lot more than it does so the debris that gets through the strainer will go down the drain.

Maybe you got a cheap version of commercial waste. They should fully open.
Fisher, a quality brand, has 12 GPM capacity.

That is very possible. I'll mention that to the owner since the kitchen is brand new. I'm doing some electrical work.
