1890 Four Square remodel beginning!

My wife and I began the first of many days of our long term remodel. I will try to get some pics posted as I will have some questions for sure. The main beam in the basement has twisted causing some major sagging of the floors in the kitchen. I will be tackling this project ASAP as we plan to move in at the end of next month. stay posted for pics and questions and comments.

Found this while inspecting the home.
Wife was happy to see original hardwoods. They need some repair though. This was the good area. I'll have to find a pro for that to see if it's doable. Hardwood floor repair is not on my resume!

Any time you are gutting or opening up a section is an opportunity moment for air-sealing & insulating properly. A ~125 year old plank-sheathed four square probably has LOTs of air leaks to deal with! Air sealing is by far the best bang/buck thermal performance improvement to be made on most homes.
