We have just moved into newly renovated offices, I'd say about 4 months ago..Since then, we've had a sewer gas smell, it was soo bad yesterday that I had burning eyes, runny nose and a headache..They replaced piping about two offices down from me, that was where the smell originated from, but they didn't replace all the piping..this piping is in our ceilings..yesterday the smell originated in my office and it was horrific..now they will have to tear apart my office ceiling next..how dangerous is this? inhaling these fumes?

I just cannot believe that they wouldn't replace this old piping while they had these offices gutted! Save a buck, but kill your employees instead?

I'm just angry as hell! Hopefully, none of us getting really sick..

It is unpleasant, but the concentration would have to be very high to become a real health hazard. But the bigger question is what the pipes are and what are they made of, if they could allow any sewer gas into the living space.

There was actually a hole in the piping two offices down from me which was allowing the sewer gas to emit into our offices..These pipes are over 50 years old and have been capped off, however, they are so old that I'm sure alot more of these pipes have holes in them..

It's good to know that this may not cause permanent health problems..but we are all sick at the end of the work day..hopefully they will the problem and correct it for good this time.

They have the noses and instruments to measure whether it's serious enough to evacuate the building, and the clout to get it fixed. They normally accept anonymous calls of complaint.
