Perhaps you can help me.
I have a 50 year old home with a septic just as old in Louisville, KY.
I need to replace the lateral lines and leachbead.
My questions are as follows:
How deep should I dig the trench for the lateral lines and fingers?
How much gravel should I use?
Should I use a screen around the flexible periforated pipe?
How many feet do I need with a 4 bedroom house.
I want to do this myself to save money.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Paul Scott

leach

It is sometimes good to DIY and save money, but only if you know what you are doing. Unless you are in a very "lenient" area, all of your questions are regulated by some local jurisdiction that has very specific requirements. Permits, and inspections are required to ensure that the field is adequate and installed correctly.

Diy

NO WAY would I allow someone to DIY "under my guidance" when I would have eventual liability if something went wrong. Or at least if I did, his final cost would be more than if I did the whole thing.
