The cylinder recall affecting most brands ( incl. bernsomatic, turbotorch) of the yellow MapPro has now become an official CPSC recall. Are you seeing it pulled from the stores now????
It is for cylinders produced between 2005 and Jan 2012.

I have two bottles that are almost empty. Now would be a good time for them to be recalled. Your the only reason I've heard about it.

I've never been a fan of Mapp anyway, even before the bottle recall. It is hotter than propane for sure but not worth the extra expense and hard to find except for the supply houses. I still keep the B tank in the truck for larger jobs and when water may be in the lines and for AC work but 90% of my soldering is done with propane now.

Thanks, I might never have known. Mine is bent (looks like sloppy assembly), and the paint is blistering at the joint. I carefully burned off the all contents outside.

Lots of vendors seem unaware of the recall, I just checked with local Ace Hardware this moringing and they had a half dozen of the recall Mapp Gas
cylinders on the shelf. Beyone that, I couldn't find anyone who knew how to identify the replacement cylinders. So, I wrote to the source Worthington
Industries and here is the reply: "The new replacement cylinders can be indentified by a small diamond printed on the shoulder" Handy information
to have.

Hmmm, this is very scary; I have two of those MAPP tanks; I better try to exchange them for the newer ones.
