I hope someone can help with a bathtub diverter spout problem. I have a Kohler spout probably installed sometime in the 1980's. It recently stopped diverting water from spout to shower head, and I took it to Home Depot for a replacement. Instead, one of the guys who was helping me suggested that I order replacement parts for it. The model is a standard Kohler faucet, Model K-6855. The link for the service parts page:

The original parts in the spout that best match this page are 20536, 1059027, 59347, 41517, and 38711. The spring was definitely broken, so it looked like that was one of the problems. At their suggestion, I also ordered parts 50713 and 73646, even though they did not initially come out of the spout.
The problem is when parts 50713 and 73646 (the additions) are included in the assembly, no water is diverted to the showerhead. When parts 1059027 (spring), 59347 (seal plate), 41517 (hex nut), and 38711 (cap for diecast) are assembled, very little water comes out of the showerhead. I believe part 38676 (O-ring) is on the cap for diecast part.
Any suggestions?
