can someone tell me if a sprinkler valve is airtight when closed and will resist "leaking" if hooked up to a vacuum? I am looking at a 3/4" diaphragm valve with 2 way magnetic catch.

im looking to use a series of these valves on a manifold hooked up to a vacuum pump to "vacuum" water....but i need the valves that are closed not to leak air. is the valve more airtight one way vs the other way ( they all appear to have directional arrows for waterflow). since my airflow will be reversed, i m wondering if reversing the valve would help.....

thanks in advance for the help!!

valves

They are pilot operated, and they are kept closed by equalized pressure on both sides of the diaphragm along with a spring pushing on it. I doubt that the mechanics of the valve would resist a negative pressure, especially if it were going in the reverse direction which would try to lift the pilot's piston off its seat and try to open the valve and while the vacuum would try to pull the diaphragm closed rather than push it open. You probably need a simple solenoid valve installed with the flow in the normal direction.
