How many wires going to valve?

2 wires (as shown in diagram).

Theres either a problem with the wiring or programming. Ecobee under furnaces/ boiler - section on fans ,fan should operated by ecobee.

The original actuator worked for over 4 years. when I put the original actuator back (with same wiring) it works without clicking.

The problem is the new actuator. See

After looking at that video thats one reason had you pull the stat and jump R to W to take the stat out of the picture but you wrote valve didn't open. The work around is using a 24v relay have the ecobee power it and a separate transformer to power the valve switch by n.o. contact.
