A friend is going to help me with re caulking a shower stall and he asked me to buy Caulking.

Shower is following

The walls of this system are told to be Polystyrene. Reading the reviews, I found that people had some leaking problems and Q&A section said that pure Silicone is not the way to go. So I called tech support of MAAX Canada. They told me to use Latex based caulking like DAP Alex plus.

I was of opinion that Latex caulking is not suitable for places where water comes in contact. Am I missing something? The Tech told me that pure Silicone will not stick to Polystyrene walls.

Should I go pure Silicone like GE Supreme or go with DAP Alex plus or rather go DAP Kwik Seal Ultra which is siliconized acrylic.

Any opinions. I dont want leaks.

Use what the manufacturer told you to use. Go to the store find latex based caulk for bathroom fixtures.

Plumbers caulk I think it's siliconized latex. Not sure though

obviously if the mfr says don't use silicone, trust that.
The Dap Kwik Seal Ultra is the best latex caulk IMHO and experience. It is the most resistant to mold of any I've encountered.
Alex Plus is crap for showers.
