I'm installing 2 hp hallmark submersible pump in a 200 foot well. The pump came with a simple control box. 1 capacitor and an on off switch. My question is I have a centipro deluxe box with 2 capacitors and a magnectic contactor. Can I use the centipro with the hallmark pump or is this a bad idea?thanks for any insights richard

Don't mix control boxes unless get the ok from the manufacturer. On a 3 wire pump/ motor there is a start winding and a run. A relay either solid state or potential relay that takes out the start winding at a set voltage. Capacitors have to be design for the motor.

I am curious what you mean by "an on off switch". Do you mean if you manually flip the switch, the pump will not run, until you flip the switch back on? As if you opened the breaker?

In a typical 3-wire pump motor, there is a start capacitor that is switched out once the motor is running. In a PSC motor, the capacitor stays in the circuit, and the same capacitor is a combined start+run capacitor.

yes has a simple rocker switch. when I set up the pressure switch and tank will just leave it on. will stick with the pump manufacturer's control box. thanks for the help
