My motor started humming and on the bench would run a few times then hum. A turn of the impeller and she would run and present again.
I got it open and the points are bad burned, but it has been twenty years since it was serviced.
I will order new points, but where is a good site to buy? I will clean with sandpaper and reinstall prolly put the pump into service again if it does not any longer fail on the bench
My real concern is the mating surface of the pump. And what is a good sealant?

See the pic. Is this deteriorated or just need some clean up?

Finally is there a lubricant required on the impeller nipple which mates with the pump casting and of course there is spinning and spinning.
One reason I am worried about the shape of the casting mating area in the pic
ThankYou for this help.

The guide vanes in the pump housing are shot. Any repairs you do will just be a waste of time. You got your money's worth out of that one. I don' t they even make Red Jacket jet pumps any more.

I turned my attention to the cast iron pump body.
After sanding and adjusting the points I could not get it to fail.
I found that the guide vanes assembly is just plastic with a center seal that can pop out.
I cleaned the rust from the large hole after pulling out the vane thing.
Cleaned it up since corrosion was built up in places.
I can see how the build up would not only cause extra friction but noise from rubbing.

After putting it all together and priming it, I have water! But I want to order poinrs.
Where should I look for them?
