Water coming through stem on Kohler stacked shower valve (K-2973-KS-NA)

Hello all,

I recently installed Kohler stacked shower valve (K-2973-KS-NA). When I put water into the system a stream or water came straight out of the screw hole of the lower valve stem. I've never seen anything like it. Anyone have any experience with this? I would just replace the cartridge but they are north of $100 so I would hope to repair it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Kohler has lifetime warranty. Call them, attempt to be the original homeowner, just don't have the receipt.
