Another washing machine shut off valve question. My currently leaky valve is a threaded boiler drain valve that is soldered on to the pipe. Is it better to replace with the same thing? Or should I get a compression valve? I haven’t seen any sweat type valves for washing machine shut off and only found the compression type online. Also can I use a boiler quarter turn ball valve and sweat it on or will that damage the valve?
Thanks! You all are always such a huge help!!

Compression works fine if you have the length of copper needed after removing the old stop. It's a lot neater than soldering against a wall.

I prefer unscrewing a valve and screwing new one on over cutting pipe and putting a compression valve on.

supply house .com a good source for DIY and even the small contractor I find prices competetive but local suppliers as well carry. I dont think the big box carries them .
The Dahl brand is very well acepted by most couple dollar more each at most. Its compact too. but I like bigger handles standard hose bib type but no biggie your choice
