I haven't done this yet, but I can see it happening despite my best efforts. If I accidentally drive a screw through the plastic vent behind and above the toilet that leads to the roof, would it cause any issues? The portion that might be affected does not vent any sewage, it is just a chimney for the vent.

If the carbon monoxide enters a living space you may die. If you do not want to make repair properly then buy a Carbon monoxide detector ASAP as you stated "Chimney"

He is NOT referring to a chimney "vent". He is asking about a plumbing vent. and the answer is that if the screw is not removed, there is no problem.

A toilet vent isnt a chiminey? Tim. but a screw through a toilet vent would likely be something you would never notice. Im cautios anyway because it might be a water line you hit in the wall

Thanks folks. Sorry, not a chimney, just the toilet vent and luckily no water lines in the wall behind the toilet, just the vent going to the roof. Thanks for the reassurance in case I accidentally drive a screw through the vent.
