hi I am new at DIY with plumbing..

Simple question- what's the best/allowed way to connect the p-trap to the drain pipe without opening the wall?
They are on the same vertical plane, but I cannot lower the trap

To lower the trap, get a piece called a tailpiece extension or get a longer tailpiece-- at least that is what they are called in the US.

Is that a drawer? Once you lower the trap, you may have to cut clearance.

It also looks like you may have another problem. You may want to glue a 45 elbow onto the pipe from the wall, and then mount a trap adapter to that. Your trap looks like it is not going to swing wide enough to get in line with that vertical plane of the wall pipe.

Also, your slip joint trap looks to be deeper than many. A different trap may help with that clearance beneath the U.

Why did you assert "easy question"? It is not a one-line answer.
