A plumber suggested to me today that a "Euro style" unvented combination washer-dryer might not meet code under Minnesota's amended UPC. Can anyone confirm whether the UPC or specifically MN code disallows such appliances?

Any drain should have a p-trap and be vented...doesn't matter who makes it. This is not inside of any of the washing machines. Or, are you talking about the exhaust vent from the dryer? If so, that can get messy. If it's say a condensing dryer (basically, run like a dehumidifier), that might work, but it would depend somewhat on if it actually vents from the clothes compartment, or it's just dealing with the fan in the condensing unit. Blowing clothes fibers into the space is unhealthy, and if it reached a certain concentration, could literally explode (not common, but theoretically possible).

A condensing dryer typically recirculates the air in the compartment after running it past an evaporating coil to chill it and remove moisture, so the air doesn't actually get exhausted...it will have a fan on the condensing coil for the refrigerant, but that's no different than say your refrigerator or dehumidifier.
