Anyone have a lead on a quality tub spout w/diverter for slip on copper that doesn't leak excessively when diverted to shower? I've tried a Kohler and a mixet style with a ring pulled down at spout end. Both leaked bad right out of the box. The Kohler I took apart and added a thicker rubber gasket to make a better seal and it lasted a couple months. Water pressure at around 55 in the house. Ordered a spout w/diverter at front, pulling forward rather than up, in hopes of better designed internals. The same designed and more expensive Moen, similar to the Kohler had bad reviews. I'm a plumber and have replaced numerous spouts over the years without issue. Just read a Delta site saying a pencil sized stream leaking through spout is normal? Yes, I realize trash products are the norm but c'mon? Working for free sucks and any advise is appreciated. Thanks in advanced!

My Delta, with the pull-down ring, leaks a lot less than other spout diverters I have used. I think there is some intentional leakage required. I don't think the leakage is as nearly large as pencil-sized. Pencil sized, to me, implies a continuous stream, and I think my leakage is more of a dribble to a drip.... I will try to pay attention next time I use the shower.

Replace the entire valve mechanism. Anything that water touches degrades. Patching parts is never a long term solution.

I've found one that seems to work well! Had to order it online from Home Depot and price was reasonable.
Somewhat surprised the best feeling and working fixture after several tries is this BrassCraft SWD0411 Mixet spout.
Completely different internal mechanism for diverter which feels and looks so much better. Why Home Depot can't
have the one that works on the shelves rather than the other trash products is beyond me? Anyway, hope this helps someone
out having the same problem. I will update this if it fails.
