FIrst time posting. If I miss anything, please let me know. Long story short, I was trying to replace my shower 3-handle stems, the model number is Pfister 910-374. When I took out the hot side stem, I realized that there was no seat behind the hot stem, I was kind surpise becase I never have any leak from the hot water side, I then take out the Diverter and cold water stem, there are seats behind these two. I then install a new seat on the hot water side and replace all three stems, tested, looks all good, no leaks.

This really shocks me. My question is, how come I do not have any hot water leak if there is no seat behind my hot water stem all this time, I am talking about years. I mean the rubber washer just seal the entire tube without the little seat? Is that even possible?

My second question would be, is that possible that you can put another seat on top of the existing seat. I was thinking maybe the previous seat is all flat out/worn out since when I put the new seat in, it was like effortless. I know most likely it is impossible but still want to double check.

Thank you for your help!!
