I recently decided it was a good idea (it wasn't) to mess with the pressure reducing valves on our lines and now can't seem to stabilize our water pressure.
In our setup, we have one reducer as the line comes in from the street before going to the water meter (this one is before the line breaks off to the sprinkler system) and another after that for the rest of the home (I've attached pictures, the bottom one is the first coming from the street and the top one is to the rest of the house, the line spreads to the sprinklers between the two). I was trying to lower the water pressure in the house (it was at 75psi) and attempted to reduce the pressure on both valves, but didn't notice a difference - until the next day when we had no water pressure. I turned each of them back up and we now have water, but the top reducer (I think) is not functioning properly. When I turn the bottom one, it seems to impact the pressure, but when I turn the top one, it doesn't seem to have an effect, until hours later. Now, pressure builds up in the system and the water will come out very strong for about 10-30 seconds (depending on how long it's been off) and then decreases to about half after that.
Do I just need to replace the top reducer? The bottom seems to be functioning, but want to make sure I'm not missing something else I should be looking at. Thanks in advance for any input!
