I am wanting to use wall mounted toilets in my bathroom remodels but the cost for the wall mount toilet carriers is excessive. I like the Toto wall mount commercial toilets with a top bung and would like to use them with a high tank set up or with the tank mounted to the bowl. But when i priced the residential wall mounted slim carriers they were 1200 each. I found some on ebay made by Zurn for around 200 dollars but not sure on compatibility. Does anyone else have a more cost effective way to install a wall mounted toilet that wont cost 2k? Bolt spacing appears to be correct on the ones i found on ebay just not sure about the drain hook up. My piping will be 4" PVC in the floor and located in a 6" frame wall.

No.
the expensive wall frame with in-wall tanks made by Geberit, Toto and Kohler are made specifically for the euro style WCs made for such.
The picture posted is for a (typically commercial) flushometer toilet and will not work unless you have appropriate high volume water supply and only use a flushometer.

I wanted to stay away from the in wall tanks as they look like a pain to service and to replace one day. I do have a 1" supply line entering the wall the toilet is on so i could use a flushometer style valve. Are there any downsides to this or should i go with a more conventional wall mount toilet with a tank like the Gerber Maxwell. Seems that there are very few choices when you want a wall mount residential toilet. I have always heard good things about the Toto and i was hoping to give one a try but it looks like they only offer commercial.

Nothing especially good about the Toto. It is a brand that developed a good rep in the very early days when US mfrs were incredibly poor at engineering low flow toilets. Now Toto is just another giant using relatively poor ballcocks in many models...still, good china and good engineering, yet have a few poor flush performance ratings is you check MaP toilet testing results.

I got a Mansfield quantum wall hung in my house and it works well. It has a tank that bolts to the bowl just like the Gerber Maxwell and the American standard Glenwall vormax
