Hi,

I have to help someone tighten their kitchen faucet. It is a single handle with a pull out hose. The faucet keeps coming loose from the base.
The problem is difficulty in tightening the mounting nut underneath the sink. It is a single large nut but there is little to no room to get a tool or hand to tighten the nut firmly. Getting it finger tight is a challenge.
Just looking for suggestions from others who encounter this problem.
Thanks.

I like those that use a lever and a threaded shaft to anchor the faucet...you might need a long screwdriver (some are a hex, so a socket works), rather than a big nut that doesn't have much room to get to. IOW, some designs are easier to deal with. But, once you get it tight, you don't need to worry about it until you want to replace.

How can you tell if the base of your faucet is loose?
Even though Moen makes many different kinds of faucets, you will still need to do some maintenance from time to time.

A major annoyance can be a faucet base that is loose.

It is possible for your Moen faucet to leak water and eventually result in a flood if it is not securely fastened to the countertop. A loose faucet can also make it hard to control the water's temperature and flow, which could be dangerous for people's safety.water.

Last but not least, the base may have become loose and needs to be tightened if your faucet appears to have become less stable over time.

Fortunately, there are a few ways to tell if your faucet base is loose and needs to be tightened.

One of the clearest signs is in the event that water is spilling from around the foundation of the fixture. It's a good sign that the base isn't tight enough if you notice moisture on the tile or countertop beneath your faucet.

If the handle feels loose or wobbles when you use it, that's another clue. If not controlled, this could cause the handle to completely fall off and make it difficult to control the precise flow of ck in the loose nuts. Examine Your Work
