Had some water tested gave it to a local guy and I wanted to run it by you guys to see if you concur.

Water Analysis:
Hardness-20ppm
Iron (Clear) 1.2ppm
Bacterial Iron-NP
Organics-NP
Oxidized Iron-.22ppm
Tannins-P
T.D.S.=245ppm
Nitrates-NP
Nitrites-NP
E-Coli-NP
Coliform-NP
Lead-NP
Copper-NP
Hydrogen Sulfide-NP
pH-7

He recommends this:

10x54" - 1.5 Cubic Foot High Capacity Water Softener System
Bedded w/ 10% Cross Link Cation Resin and Tannin/Anion Resin
Blend.
AT68-3 Digital Control Valve With Full 1" Porting and
1.25" Riser System To Ensure No Pressure Drop.
18" Round Brine Tank w/ Safety Float and Res-Care Feeder. For The Optimum
Control of All Hardness and Tannins.
Rated At 25 Gallon Per Minute Flow Rate To Ensure No Pressure Drop.

He uses a Fleck 2510SXT head.

Let me know if this seems appropriate? Thanks!

How many people, or if city water, how much do you use per month when you are not watering?

Well water, Two people, low usage, no watering. Used everyday though because they live there. It's for my 72yr old father-in-law and his 45yr old daughter.

I presume that is 20 grains of hardness rather than ppm. If it were 20 ppm, that changes things some. Softener is a good size and choice for the 20 grains + iron. I think the H factor would be set to 30 after the compensations.

I don't know tannins, but a local guy is likely to know the situation and what works. Not all tannins are the same.

I'm not sure about grains of hardness. That's what he wrote in his email to me. Hardness-20 ppm. So not sure if he made a mistake or not. I will ask.

Thanks!

I missed originally that this is a combo that will treat the iron and tannins in one tank. Sounds reasonable to me. I am not a pro.
