Multiple Showerheads..... Is there any problem with this plan? New Shower enclosure (no tub). I want two shower heads. They will NOT be both used at the same time, just one or the other. Can I install one mixer valve, then Split the outlet line to the two shower heads with a simple shutoff valve at each shower head?. Seems simple enough. Just looking to have the option of either shower head, without getting complicated and keeping the cost down. Any reason this would not work? Thanks for your help.

The problem is that if someone shuts off both shower heads while the valve is on it will cross your hot and cold water. You will have cool hot &/or warm cold and in the worst case a blast of hot water into the toilet could cause it to crack. One shower head or a diverter (transfer valve) is a much better approach.

Is that also the case if you have only one shower head and use the shut-off button on the hand held to shut off the water? Thanks for your input.

So can the diverter be installed after the mixer?
