I have about 1000ft of 1 1/4" SIDR poly pipe to run from the meter. I'm using stainless barb fittings and was going to use ear clamp fittings but after speaking with a Oetiker Clamp representative I was advised to seek out Pex style copper crimp rings instead for their superior crimp connection. I've watched a couple videos and see people using standard worm gear clamps but haven't seen anyone using the Pex copper crimp rings. Any thoughts or input?

Nothing? No opinions or thought provoking input on poly tubing clamps?

I would read the manufacturers recommendations then I would look up your local code requirements. It's not hard to do. CYA. Do what the warranty says, if there is one.

1-1/4 inch PEX is 1.375 OD.

https://www.jmeagle.com/sites/default/files/JM Eagle_HDPE_WaterService_IPS_CTS_SIDR.pdf J M Eagle SIDR SDR7 https://www.jmeagle.com/sites/default/files/JM Eagle_HDPE_WaterService_IPS_CTS_SIDR.pdf says 1.380. Looks close.... but....
When putting SIDR pipe onto a barbed fitting, usually you have to heat the pipe, dipping into boiling water is the safest way, and stretch the pipe a bit to fit over the barbs. So will the copper rings fit?

https://www.spearsmfg.com/super_sou... Price Catalog/028 Barbed Insert Fittings.pdf is another document with dimensions including the dimensions of barbs.

When using worm gear clamps, you usually put two on, with the worms not adjacent.

I was surprised at the suggestion of the copper rings, but the clamp company suggested that.

Agreed, I was surprised on the copper ring suggestion as well since I haven't seen in that in practice anywhere. Thanks for the info.

My thought exactly. Is the barb meant for PEX or poly? Ear clamps have a limited size range.

When choosing worm gear clamps, make sure that all of the parts are stainless steel. I have made the mistake of overlooking that and had the worm gear corrode. I would be concerned about corrosion with copper rings as well even if they would fit.

If undecided, how about one of each?
