Hey everyone,
This is my first post here but I wanted to share the shower remodel I recently did for my mom's bathroom. We planned this remodel out for many months before I did the work, and I'm very happy with the end result. We basically got rid of an old fiberglass tub/shower and went to a shower only. Since this was my first shower remodel, and since I didn't have any experience, tiling was just not something I felt comfortable undertaking. Also, I wanted something that would be easy to clean for my mom in the coming years. We decided to go with the Jetcoat Reflections shower wall panel system, and we used a shower base from Flexstone. There wasn't any content online at all for the Reflections series, so I made a video of the installation. I also made a short video showing the major stages of the shower remodel project. Here's the links to the videos.

Here's some basic information on the shower remodel and stuff you may not see or be able to tell from the videos:
We took everything all the way down to the studs and floor joists. I added floor joists for additional support where I cut out the old subfloor, but I didn't get pictures of it. The floor is 3/4" water-repellant plywood, then 1/2" Hardiebacker with Hydrodefense ontop of that, then I waterproofed the floor with TEC Hydraflex liquid membrane. I had to rework the wall studs to make them as plumb and square/level as I could, and I also added blocking for the bench, shelf, a future grab bar, and then also in all the places where two Goboard panels would meet. I used 1/2" Pex-B for the supply plumbing, copper for the tub spout, and Sharkbite brand MAX fittings in most places. There is an access panel behind the shower so I can get to all the connections and valves. The old drain plumbing was 1 1/2" copper, and I switched it to be 2" PVC per the drain specs on the new shower base. I used a Fernco 3001-215 to couple the new 2" PVC with the old 1 1/2" copper. We plan to remodel the rest of the bathroom, and when we do we will be replacing the old rusted cast iron toilet drain pipe with PVC. At that point, I will extend the shower drain with full PVC all the way to the new toilet drain. But for now, I didn't want to risk damaging the toilet drain, so that's why I used the Fernco. The shower base is a Flexstone brand 60x32 base, and is designed to be installed directly onto the subfloor with no mortar bed. All the walls are GoBoard, and I used their sealant and screws/washers according to their specs for warranty. There's also GoBoard on the ceiling, with a piece of Plastex Polywall adhered to it (to match the base color and texture). Most of major items were bought at Menard's, but some items also came from Home Depot, Amazon, and Lowe's. There's links to all the major items in the Jetcoat video description.
Thanks and please leave your comments or questions.
