We have a baptismal font in our church that appears to be leaking at the interface of a porcelain bowl sitting atop a tiled surface. The tiled surface is actually a basin that holds water with an elevated area in the center and the bowl sits on this area. The bowl is bonded to the tile with whatever was used during construction (thinset?). This interface is submerged by less than 1" of water, but looking underneath the structure there is evidence of wetness and through testing I believe this may be the culprit.

I'm looking for the proper sealant to use to waterproof seal this interface. Surface prep will be difficult but is obviously very important.

Silicone, Lexel, others?

Thank you
