I am remodeling my bathroom and have put in a new shower mixer valve. The old one had a female fitting that the exit pipe to the shower head screwed into. The new one has a male fitting so it's male to male now. Am I ok to use a 1/2 x 1/2 sch 40 plastic pressure coupling to connect the two together?

Even if it is 'ok' and since this will be behind a tiled wall without easy access, would I simply be better off to cut down the copper feed and put a shark bite copper to brass fitting between the two? I do crimp pex so I guess my other option would be to leave the copper male fitting and put two female to pex fittings in the middle with a short pex connection?

Any plan substantially better than the other?

Thanks!

could do it, but do not over-tighten.

Even schedule 80 plastic is not that strong for female threads. Schedule 120 would be stronger, if you can find that. Easy to find in 1 inch, but not 1/2 inch.
