Hi all,
I just installed a Maax corner shower in a basement on self leveling concrete. The drain uses a rubber compression ring to form a glue-less joint. The drain instructions gave the measurements for how long the pipe should be coming out of the floor. It didn't look right to me but I placed my faith in the manufacturer. When I set the shower base down the pipe only extended about 3/8 of an inch into the rubber compression ring. By then, I was beat because I had glued the 2 inch pipe. I tightened the compression nut and the rubber compression ring started to collapse toward the center of the circle. I fear the seal may not be 100% and there's no way to tell if its leaking.
What are my options, besides tearing the whole unit apart and rebuilding the drain? My only thoughts are to remove the tightening ring and silicon the compression ring into place. This shower is made by Maax and their instructions are not only dismal but seem to contain a lot of errors! My Review will not be polite!!
Thoughts? Thanks....
