Rheem replaced my 2 1/2 year old leaking (From the cold water weld) WH.
I had the extended warrantee anode installed on the Hot side and they said to move it from the old one to the new one.

I could do that, but the old one is 100% spent.
1. Should I put it in anyway?
2. Should I get a new one?
3 Should i not bother?
4. Anything else I need to do or need to know?

I'm concerned that it burned up so quickly.

Advice please and thanks in advance.

you may want to get a powered anode. I am not an anode expert since we have the opposite reality with our local water. Anodes never dissolve if the tank doesn't develop serious micro-cracks.

I would jump up ad down with Rheem and get a new extended anode rod from them
especially if you paid for it in the first place..... having to install a older half worn out rod from
the old tank into the new tank is rather cheap ass and a cheezey way for the contractor to act...

The new 4 year extension rods only cost me 80 bucks each and it seems they could have
offered a new one to you
