Hello all,
Thanks for taking the time to read this. We have a 20 year old 2030C Kinetico dual tank and carbon tank set up we are looking to replace. I think the system has been very reliable but service in our area could be much better and less pricey. The last time they were out about two years ago we were going to have the carbon replaced but he said he didn't recommend it as the system will need replacing soon. Sounded a bit like looking for a big sale versus a repair/service call. We did not take the bait. Although he could be right, what do we know? We may even bite the bullet and call them again in the end since the unit itself has been so reliable.
So I have recently started looking for options. We would like to be as green as possible and looked at the salt free options but doesn't really sound like something that would work for us as well as a salt version due to our water parameters and being use to actual soft water now. I have been doing a lot of research with the help of Perplexity. I feel like a dog chasing his own tail with so many options out there. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Started looking at all in one systems that filter and soften the water in the same tank. They appear to be way more cost effective and save a little garage space but might be a compromise in water quality results. Should I even be looking at these all in one set ups? One of the draw backs from what I was told is the carbon life is about 5 years or so and the resin can be 10 years or more and in the all in one systems they typically have to replace both media at the same time. One of my concerns is if there is actually enough of either media in a single tank set up to be reliable over time? We were recommended to get a 32k setup but I was thinking for an additional 150.00 you can upsize to a 48k system that might get us more time between media changes and perhaps better water quality due to more media and slightly larger tanks used? Is a 48k system too large for a two person household? Remember Phoenix garages get extremely hot in the summer so this could be a concern too?
There is a Stacked 2 tank model called Green Fusion all in one made here in Mesa AZ for our water conditions per info I found. So they keep the filtration and resin media in separate tanks so you can replace the two as needed and not necessarily at the same time. Again is one tank type set up large enough to produce good water quality over time for a 2 person household?
I have read that the best set up is like our Kinetico set up with dual resin tanks so you don't run out of softened water and the separate carbon Filtration in its own tank before the resin tanks to protect the resin from chlorine. It is also the most costly option. It is only two of us in a 1400 sf single story home so I don't think we really need the two resin tank system. So based on the below water test results and what I have read is a two tank system with separate tanks for carbon media and softener resin the proper way to go.
The company I am looking at is Complete Water Systems LLC. They have transparent pricing online and came out and gave me some quotes. They have been very good about answering my questions via email. They have stellar reviews but it seems like most do here except the company that sells thru Costco which was shocking.
I didn't know if it was appropriate to post like here so I did not.
I could get their all in one system for about 2000.00 from them.
The stacked tank Green Fusion for about 1750.00.
Their dual tank system is 3100.00.
Should we be avoiding these all in one solutions and paying the additional $$$ for the dual tank water softener and home filtration model?
Thanks so much again for reading and any input is very welcome.
