Replaced ruptured high flow bottom basket with fine mesh - low flow now

Well I had the nightmare scenario of a bottom basket rupturing and sending resin throughout my plumbing system. After doing some research, I learned that a fine mesh bottom basket is much less prone to rupture so I replaced the old standard basket that came with the unit (Kenmore 350 series) with a fine mesh one (Fine Mesh 11 Segment 1.05" Bottom Screen for Water Filter & Softener Riser Tubes SKU: FM-105-11WDF)
Problem solved - or so I thought. Now I am experiencing low water flow throughout the house (which makes sense to me - I suppose I added a bottleneck to the system). When I bypass the unit, water flows the way it used to.

My question is this: is there a high flow bottom basket that isn’t as prone to rupture as the original part or am I stuck with the lower flow water situation?

A related issue: after I made the basket switch I noticed that after a regen cycle, super salty, foamy water comes out for about 5-15 minutes. Could this be related to the basket change and is there a way to mitigate this?

Fortunately 1.050 OD distributor tube is one of the standard sizes. It is the same size as "3/4 inch PVC", which makes you able to use easy-to-get stuff such as pipe and couplers.

The Fleck and Clack bottom baskets should be good. The Fleck 40922 should be strong but give good flow.

FWIW, I have used the Fleck 40922 in DI setups and its solid. Was overkill for my purposes. In all my reading, I have never read that a fine mesh lower distribution basked is less prone to rupture. I would think the opposite: that a fine mesh would put more forces on the basket due to restriction.

And perhaps I am really off base, but I always thought that fineness of the lower and upper distribution baskets was simply a function related to the type of media used. E.g. using a fine baskets for activated carbon.

NOTE: I am not a plumber or water treatment professional.
