How do you prevent a 4 inch cast iron soil vent that reduces to 1-1/2" from collecting debris (leaves/sticks/etc)? See photo.
This photo is not mine, but I have the same setup. I believe this meets code in NY from a frost perspective.
Before i shop vac this thing, I would to find a code-permissible solution that prevents it from being a yearly maintenance item. Lots of trees and leaves nearby.
I was looking into grates/coverings, or perhaps a inverted U, but I think the whole point of code requiring it up-sizing to 4 inch was to prevent it freezing in the winter. So I'm worried any sort of grate or mesh will just cause icing at the grate. An inverted U comes to mind, but I'm not sure what that type of vent would be called.
