What's the proper way to plug an old, inactive well on a property. They're about 170-180 feet deep.
I'd like to plug them to the point where I can remove any surface evidence of them being there.

In Texas you can plug your own wells, but it has to be done up to code. Plugging a well is not a very easy DIY job. First, you must at least attempt to pull the casing, or cut it off as deep below surface as you can. Then a trimmy pipe needs to be installed to the bottom from which cement is pumped down until the well is filled to the top. Then the trimmy pipe is pulled out of the cement.

If the state has logs on these wells there will need to be a plugging report done. If they come looking for the wells and there is no plugging report there could be problems.
