I just replaced and old fiberglass tub enclosure with a new tub and tiled walls. When I went to hook up the drain to the drain shoe, the old drain bottoms out before before it fully tightens to make a good seal. Its 3/16 to 1/4 inch gap from the drain flange to the tub. I bought a larger gasket but cant push the shoe down enough to fit it in there. No access from below unless I cut a hole in the floor of the condo to gain access to the crawl space. Not finding drain attachments with a shorter length of thread but maybe thats out there. Any suggestions?

Pretty basic that swapping out a tub it will not align at all with prior fittings.
Access from behind or below is imperative and replacing with new waste/overflow very expected.
