Hi,
So I’m planning on adding a full bath to the basement for daily use in my older house. Breaking up the floor is not an option. I’ve narrowed down to two possibilities and would love some advice or even a new idea!

There is a clean out a bit further down the line and I’m flexible on where wall framing goes.

1. Macerator pump:
Pros:
cheap
Easy
Allows flexibility in placement of fixtures and height

Cons:
Poop slurry maintenance
Noise
Longevity
It’s only a few inches below grade
Drain vent will need installation and it’s a 2 story house
———————————————————
2. Tie into existing drain line:
Pros:
Long lasting
No frills classic option
Could use an air admittance value

Cons:
Cost
Precision of drain points
Everything will have to be raised. Toilet and shower on a platform
Ceiling height is already 7’6”
