Hi everyone- new member here. I’m connecting my new thermostat to my really old boiler setup. The old vertical thermostat (anticipator?) is being upgraded to a new smart t-stat.

This was/is directly installed on the photo. On my new thermostat I have locations for several different colored wires. However it looks like the old wiring is color coded inconsistently. Can anyone help before we freeze to death?

White wire - R/T - not sure where it connects to new t-stat
Red wire - G/T - not sure where it connects to new t-stat
Green wire - C - common wire- i connected appropriately to c port on new t-stat

Where were the wires landed at old thermostat? Boiler t stat is usually T toT.
Have a meter that can read 24vac?
Red to green/ c 24vac ?
White to green/ c 24 vac?
Which ever one showed 24 vac
Green to C
Wire that read 24vac to R
Wire that read 0 vac to W
Do not wire thermostat with power on at boiler touch a 24 vac to ground or green would blow a fuse or ruin the transformer.
