New pump, old well

Hello. First post. We have to develop an old well which has been dormant. It's 300 ft from the house, 64 ft deep. My submersible pump is 1/2 hp grundfos, 240 volts. I'm thinking about putting pressure tank and switch near the well, to avoid having to buy a 500ft roll of 12/3. I'm not sure how effective that would be. Any input would be appreciated

Why would you want to run 300' of unnecessary wire when you have power at the well? The well is a good location for that equipment, if it can be protected from freezing temperatures.

3-wire pump, or 2-wire? If 3 wire, you have a control box, and that could be located at the well, regardless of where the pressure switch and pressure tank are. So 12/2 plus ground would be enough, whichever place the pressure switch and pressure tank are.

There is advantage to the pressure switch and tank being at the house. The pressure switch is the point of regulation. So if the those are at the house you will get a little better pressure control. If the pressure switch+tank are at the well, you might upsize the pipe to reduce pressure drop with flow.

I had not considered there might be power available at the well.

It was never mentioned that this well was for household use.
