New pressure tank empties while using garden hose.

So I just had a new well pump (1/2 horse) and pressure tank (6.9gal fiberglass) installed. The company I hired changed the switch from a 20/40 to a 40/60. I noticed when running the hose after 30 minutes (flushing chlorine). That the pressure tank had completely emptied (pressure reading was stable at 30PSI). I was told the tank should never completely empty of water so I am in question of changing the switch back to what was originally there. Any feedback is appreciated thank you!

This says that the pump and well can keep up with the flow at 30 minutes while delivering 30 psi.

There is no harm in having the pressure tank empty of water in this situation. I see no reason to turn it back.

For your pump's sake, I hope that 6.9 gal is the drawdown on a much larger pressure tank. Unless you have a specialty system installed, a typical system will cycle the pump to death.

For a house, that would pair nicely with a CSV.

For a garden, where you are just driving a hose and don't want to bother with a switch, that may be quite adequate.

Changing the switch won't help. A 6.9 pressure tank only holds about 1.5 gallons of water. Your water comes from the well, not the tank. Either you pumped the well down and a hose is all it would give you, or the hose was letting out more than the pump can supply. Guessing if you turn it off and wait an hour the well will have some water in it.

Have brand and model? Depth of pump, pipe size, pipe material, lenght of pipe to hose and any rise from well head to hose?
