Hello,
We just moved into a new house and would like to install a backwash carbon filter as well as a water softener.
Right now I'm thinking of going with a 2.5 cu ft catalytic carbon filter with a Fleck 5800 SXT or XTR2 and a 1.5 cu ft softener also with a Fleck 5800 SXT or XTR2 valve.
We're a 4 person household, typical water usage is between 240-280 gallons per day, water hardness averages 18 gpg, house plumbing is 1" copper.
Does the sizing of the media tanks sound about right? For reference, at our previous house we had a 1.5 cu ft softener with Fleck 7000SXT, which has worked very well for the last 7 years.
Thanks for any input.
