My roommate has a Pearl jacuzzi whirlpool tub, and the shower diverter valve is unlike any I have seen or really have had experience with.

The tub itself has a two valve hot and cold, but going down the line there is the shower diverter, and it looks like it acts as a gate valve of sorts. As I mentioned I have almost no experience with this. The issue is that it ofcourse isn't functioning.
I can get either the tub or the shower to work, but in doing so, the valve sticks and even when turning it's not changing the flow of water.
I went to several plumbing stores in my area, but they have no knowledge of this style, or it's maker. I'm hoping that it's merely the O rings. In the pics some look removed, or even the odd size, that's because I removed them at the store to get a measurement and try to find similar rings.

I'd much rather replace the valve with something more modern, should the whole valve fail, or the O rings do not fix the issue. That leaves me asking here if anyone has a clue as to...Well anything on this thing.
I have been google searching images and brass diverter and gate valves for hours, and I finally found a similar post on this forum site. People were able to help there, and I'm hoping the same can be done here.

Thank you very much in advance!
