Hi all, long time lurker. I was a pipe fitter and installer way back, now retired. I have a Munchkin 140MLP propane combination boiler that will be needing replacement soon. Its' set up is primary/secondary, vision one, w/ outdoor reset and am using a Superstor Ultra indirect water heater. Looking for any suggestions for a more or less direct replacement. I was considering staying with HTP and looking at a ELU- 150WCN, or going with a IBC brand. I have radiant pex and onix infloor, remote manifolds, and am using a Taco 6 zone switching relay. Any help provided is much appreciated. Thank you for your help in advance, and for the beneficial help you have provided to me in the past. Best! Ken.

So you're using the indirect for storage on top of tankless hot water within the combi? That shouldn't be necessary with a modern combi

Yes, that is how it's set up. Large jet tub with double fast fill, w/ a couple of showers, dishwasher and washing machine were all designed to never run low on temp. If I recall, the rate of rise may have been a concern, so the Superstor and recirc line was added to the plan. I bet we can do without the tank. Thank you John.

Like a piping diagram to see how your dropping temp for the floor. Floor radiate runs at a lower temp < 100° wood floor covering 80°. Boiler want to use one where the parts are readily available. For any condensing boiler return water temp has to be under 140° and the cooler the better. Above 140° drops to 87%. They get their efficiency from the condensate.

Apologies for the tardy reply. on page 19, figure 8-2 is how my system is setup. I do have a recirc line for the hot water installed on a 006. Aquastat on DHW; heating mode temp is set for around 140 max, and boiler generally stays in low fire mode for heating. Heating side has 6 remote manifolds, and using a Taco switching relay w/ DHW priority. I'm just trying to figure out if I should stay with HTP boilers, for ease of changeover, or look into something else. I have 3'' pvc for the fresh air and exhaust, separated by several feet to minimize any exhaust gases coming back in. Thank you for your help.

If your had good luck with it wouldn't change brands. Indirect wh might consider changing the anode rod and flushing the.tank twice a year if you haven't been.

Thank you for the fast reply Fitter30. I am thinking the same thing, its' easy to work on, and these old Munchkins had a lot of early initial problems. Once ironed out, its been okay for the last dozen years. I miss the old 82% simple cast iron boilers. Best!. Ken
