what would a pro charge to install a 9k btu mini split ductless system? the system would consist of a single head unit and roughly 30 feet of line, 15ft x 2. straight forward installation. Thank you.

Not gonna happen. Possibly if there was someone from your area and regularly familiar with prices in your area. Other wise 2k to 12k is gonna be the range.

Why labor only? Buy the mini split from a dealer, do not buy a unit on line. You will not get a warranty worth anything and most techs will not want to install an "on line" purchase.
If you're handy, some mini splits can be installed by yourself, but if problems arise, you're stuck.
Florida requires a permit for HVAC replacement or new work.

Labor only, we have not chosen the unit. I am having a professional do it just before I get some estimates I want a benchmark to go by. Thank you.

Another thought... hopefully you can find a service tech to install it. Seems most of the HVAC companies around SoCal
are just interested in selling new systems.

When it comes to mini splits very few are willing to repair them. 'Just junk it, we'll install a new'

With more and more of these mini's in service it would seem actual Repair companies could be a viable business.

Very few Installers will install any hvac system that is customer bought. Maybe someone off Craigslist you get what u paid for. Don't expect and type of warranty.
