I'm looking forward to Master Plumber Mark coming out to Seattle with his son in a few weeks. We plan on doing some hiking while he's out here. Mt Rainier is on the list and some other places too. His son is thinking about moving to the Seattle area and he gets to have a look see at what is happening here. Maybe I can get my 26 YO software working son Taylor to go on some of these hikes too.

Part of the Paradise loop trail.

We get to talk a little shop too.

Hanging with Mark Weillhammer at my mothers place in Bellevue last night. We have more plans today. Some hiking and then Comedy Club. I got to meet his son Jake who took the picture too. And Mark isn't really a beer drinker. He got about halfway through that one. It does have a lot of Yakima hops.

Jake, Terry and Mark getting ready to do the Skyline Trail from Paradise at Mt Rainier.

Parts of the trail were under snow, so we made our own route at times.

I am at Terrys house right now and we are having a good time hiking around the Seattle area with Terrry....
We are having a good time and Terry has been " Mr Hospitality" all week long..... We just did this 8 mile hike on Thursday and we are pretty worn out this next morning .
it was a very beautiful day for a 5.58 mile hike that turned into an 8.8 mile one.......

Terry lives in probably the most beautiful part of the United States and is blessed to be here
gonna stay a little longer with Terry then head down the coast of Oregon and beyond..

our fun quest has just begun but I am getting the feeling that this first week might be the best part...
of the adventure.... just have to wait and see how it all goes..

thanks Terry for letting us stay with you this week... ..

The route we took is marked in green. The yellow is the way back we missed. The added miles we hiked is marked in red.

Mark and Jake sent me these photos on their way down the Oregon Coast.
Camping in Tillamook Bay. They make cheese there too.

They don't have these in Indiana.

Hope I get to go back out there someday before my clock runs down.

For the Easterners who haven't been out west, let me splain it to you.

Throw a blanket on your coffee table. Make little bumps and ridges in it with your fingers. That's the Appalachian mountains..

Now, park a Volkswagen beetle behind the coffee table. That's Mt Ranier.

Go see it if you can.

It's truly awesome.

I made Jake walk out on that rock for the picture. It's vertical on the other side. A nice way to get the adrenaline going

I had no idea where this picture was taken from. We had missed the trail back on the snow.

Nice pictures Terry....I am sure you have some others that were better than mine...

I think the picture I took of the horse is a wild mustang that roams the area..
you can see his rib cage , so I dont think he is domesticated..

thanks for allowing us to stay at your home in Seattle....
we had a great time and it was actually the height of the vacation

after we left you we went down the coast of Oregon and spent a day or two
along that highway 101.. We checked out the northern sequoias for a time

. Then we drove down to San Fran Sisssy and hung out
there for two days down town seeing all the sights... Jake liked the sub and liberty ship
docked in fishermans warf....

then the trip sort of de-railed after this because Yosemite park was on fire and we could not
gamble on going there ..... So I took off from San Fran Sisssy and drove overnight to flagstaff
Arizona....

We stayed in Sedona for 2 nights and did a few hikes but I think we were basically all hiked
out at that point ... jake had the start of a shin splint going so that ended the longer hikes...

We drove to the grand canyon which is a total joke with thousands of japaneese, french and germans
all milling about.... parking at the main center was almost impossible..... We basically loooked down
in the hole and moved on....

We drove to monument valley that next morning and checked out that place then hauled ass up to Arches
national park and went through Arches that afternoon Temp was 103... so we just toured the place....
We left there in the early afternoon and drove the colorado river route up to I-70 and made a mad dash
over to Snow-mass colorado where we hung out for 2 days.....

Jake was getting burnt out on the driveing and being confined in the car too much so we finally decided to
head home asap.... We took off from snowmass colorado which is 195 miles west of Denver on monday
morning at 9am and landed in Indianapolis at 5am tuesday morning......

doing a 24 hour deive arcoss kansas is really boring and I knew it was gonna be a drag...
I did about 16 hours of it and jake filled in the rest....

Just now beginning to feel back to normal after that overnight drive....

As I figured, the high point of the whole vacation was in Seattle with you
and it slowly died down from there.....but all in all it was a very good time
for both of us......

thanks again for having us

WTF! Terry didn't invite the rest of us to the shindig. When it Terry going to start doing that twice-a-year plumbers retreat in the great pacific northwest.

Since my youngest bought a home and moved out, I've wound up with a spare room. Mark came by for starters, and then I also heard that Cass from Ohio may drop in too.
I'm open to doing more things here with you guys. Fer Sure! It would be fun.

Yea Terry, you need to set up a yearly Mount Raineer hike
for all the plumbers in good enough shape to fly up to Seattle.......
as long as we dont miss the trail and make a 4 mile hike into a 10 mile one I
think everyone would survive.....:D

or we could all go up to the Olympic peninsula and do the circle around the island
and hunt clams and have a clam bake on the ocean.......

maybe a pig roast on the beach or in your back yard or something...
we could all pitch in for the expences...

good idea

We need to do this again for sure. So much to do here and I love sharing this. Maybe next year we can plan sooner so that more can come out.

This year Mark brought his daughter Amy with him. Here we are at the Duvall Summer Concert Series with my son's band, Longstride playing.
Jamie is the one singing on stage.
