Hi Plumber experts! I'm taking advantage of a renovation to revamp our walk in shower. Planning to go with the Kohler Anthem Digital valve to support 2 "zones"/ports (shower head, and body sprayers). It seems like Moen and Kohler are the leaders in digital valves but both are prone to occasional issues. I was thinking of adding a backup manual Delta valve with diverter, then tee'ing in the two valves to each fixture.
Valve(s) 1 output > tee > fixture 1 (shower head)
Valve(s) 2 output > tee > fixture 2 (body sprayers)
This would give me a manual backup in case the digital goes on the fritz, we can still shower with full functionality.
Any thoughts? Considerations? Would backflow pressure cause any issues from the one valve to the other valve? (I could pop in check valves but would rather not)
Of course, I realize this is all overengineering but I'd rather not be stuck without a shower if the technology goes awry. I do want to support the new tech. Hopefully 95% of the time we use the digital controls without issue.
