Kitchen sink drain height problem

ABS glue doesn't work with PVC.
You can't mix PVC and ABS. No plumbing inspector would pass what you are attempting to do.

You can use a reversing p-trap.

My inspectors don't allow me to use that. Are ABS fittings too hard to find? I see them everywhere.

Do you expect someone working for Home Depot to know more than the plumbers?

Lowes doesn't carry abs or that reverse p trap :(

Well, at least the joint would not be hidden. If you wind up with a problem, it would be accessible.

Is there something wrong with that abs to pvc glue I posted a picture of?

And BTW I definitely don't put much faith in Lowes or HD sales associates. They mean well but that's why I'm here asking you. And I very much appreciate your help!

I just need to know if it's OK to put some kind of riser out of the p trap to get it high enough to be at the proper elevation to run down to the drain line?
Is the J-bend of your trap reversible? Try it.

Also, a 60 degree bend may be enough rather than a 90. Not sure.

No its not reversible unfortunately and the mentioned reversible one isn't available anywhere I can find locally. I'm thinking I'll make a p trap up with slip/glue fittings and then I can make it whatever height I want.

As to the fitting? I tried a 45° on and it is a little too close to the GD. 22.5° I think will be the ticket.

So I was wrong it was a 60* fitting that worked.

I got everything glued up last weekend and all seems to be working just fine. I ended up using the ABS to PVC glue and I guess time will tell if there are any issues with it.

Here it is all plumbed. I managed to get the proper angles on both the GD waste pipe and the drain pipe from the p trap to the wall. Obviously it's not ideal but it works.

Good. If you ever change things or run a snake later, you can cut that horizontal pvc piece near the 60, and glue on a trap adapter. That little drain on the bottom of the trap won't help you run a snake, but it could drain the water from the trap before you cut pipe.
