Kinetico Model 50 backwash process

My Kinetico Model 50 goes through all of the normal processes in terms of when it hits the backwash cycle. It uses salt at a regular rate but the water doesn't feel as soft as it once was. I changed out the resin last fall and it seemed very soft at first and then didn't seem to be as soft as the weeks passed. When it goes into the backwash cycle, water drains from the head at a fast rate like I would expect it to. Not knowing the inner mechanics all that well, is it possible that the head is drawing in brine solution and just throwing it out the drain tube without actually going into the tanks to wash the resin?

these are proprietary valves that very few people (outside of current or former technicians) are qualified to repair. On top of that the parts are only available through an authorized kinetico dealer. I suggest you call them for repair, or replace the system altogether with a non-proprietary unit.
