I have a circa 2000 Bradford white water heater question

. My question is if I ever want to change the gas valve water heater does not have a TCO switch if I get a new gas valve what do I do with the red wires or can tco switch be installed? what year did they start adding a thermal cut off switch this water heater tank that I have is from the year 2000 I just been changing the rod on it about nine times over the years. I’d hate to get rid of the tank I also change the burner assembly, but never the gas valve yet thank you

It looks to me as if you could short the two TCO wires, and the valve would as an older unit.

Thank you I was thinking the same . I would like to have a back up gas valve just in case
