Hi Everyone, I posted last Fall about installing a pair of Navien 240s (1 A and 1 S) here. We’ve been pretty happy with them, but twice we’ve had the power go out. Once it was just a few seconds and another for longer. Even in a few seconds, the water became pretty icy cold while showering was in progress, but of course we could have more duration.

Doing some research on battery backups suggested the HUGOV2 is the way to go if you want to have it operate for more than 30 min if the power goes out. Since I have two, I’m wondering if anyone else can help me understand power consumption on the Navien units. They say without an external pump they can use 200W, but the HUGO caps out at 350W. I’ve installed an Emporia Vue Outlet on each and so far have not noticed even 100W from each, but I need to watch more. These are not super cheap UPSes so I’d prefer to not buy two. Our power tends to be fairly reliable and I don’t anticipate multi-day outages.

Questions:
1 - Has anyone installed these UPSes, and if so, what’s your opinion experience?
2 - Has anyone tracked peak power consumption on these Navien units, and if so, can you offer any insights on draw?
3 - If using a Cascade configuration and I had to just do one UPS, if I put it on the Main and the power was out, is there any reason to think there would be an issue with the secondary unit just going offline while the Main has power
