Hi. We have certain electrical outlets in our apartment with very high V/m so we are planning on decreasing the radiation from an electrical outlet in a bedroom. How do we do this in a safe way using aliminium tape, or copper tape, around the outlet so it does not reflect the radiation back into the room?

The large magnetic fields are caused by either no ground or conductors not running close to each other. Do you know what the approximate age of the wiring is? Grounding wasn't done much before the early 1960's. In very old buildings you may have knob and tube which is going to have very large fields.

I have no experience with shielding the fields, only replacing the wiring to eliminate them. If there are grounds that were not connected (which was common in the 60's) that is an easy fix.

EMF meter have one? If the building is older it will have metal juction boxes and be wired with BX. BX has metal jacket over the wires. I'd try metal wall cover plates.

If this is a rental (you do not own this unit) you should not be doing anything to the electrical system. Call your landlord to deal with the issue. The electrical system of an apartment that you rent does not give you the right to work on the landlord's electrical system. The only thing you can actually do is change light bulbs; anything else is to be handled by the landlord/property owner. You can be held liable for any damage in the future.

Would it be safe to put the tape around the outlet not in it then and best way to do it and would it work?
