I'm adding a water tank in my house that my well will pump into and will be pumping into the house via a submersible pump in the tank. What is the typical method of bringing the pump outlet pipe & electrical out of the tank? Seems to me a slip connector that would allow the pipe to pass through and then support it somehow outside of the tank? For the electrical are people using just a cable gland connector or something that would transition to a watertight conduit or something?

I saw some reference to people suggesting threading the pipe into the connector which seems like a pain to me on the pump side. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Tank is a 500 gallon Norwesco doorway tank.

Thank you!

Typical is to run electric and piping from the top, so no watertight bulkhead connections needed.

Thanks, interesting. In regard to watertight I just mean the type of flex conduit, could be regular flex. I'm just looking for a clean install. How is the pipe typically supported to hang the pump (I'll have it off the bottom of the tank to reduce picking up silt)?

Any pictures of installs would be greatly appreciated!

I have no relevant experience.

These do not get into the mechanics, but might have some stuff worth reading anyway

Points are to use a flow inducer, consider putting the pump horizontally, and use a low-water cut-off float switch.

Best to bring the wire and pipe out the top of the cistern so you can work on the pump without draining the tank.
